About
The Island is an itinerant non-profit organisation that develops curatorial projects in dialogue with international partners. The Island is committed to a collaborative model for working with organisations and artists across the globe to explore the critical potential of cultural exchange.
Presented both across the UK and in international partner venues our activities include exhibitions, film commissions, radio programmes and the support of ongoing artist research projects.
During our first year we have worked with over one hundred artists and collaborated with international partners such as British Council; Art International Radio, New York; Art Dubai Projects, UAE; International Project Space, Birmingham; Ashkal Alwan, Beirut; Darb 1718, Cairo; Vasl, Pakistan; ArtSchoolPalestine, Ramallah and Delfina Foundation, London.
The Island’s activities are made possible through the support, financial or otherwise, of dedicated individuals, partner institutions and collaborators. Our itinerant nature and ability to work flexibly ensures an economically sustainable model within which donations of any size make a considerable impact. All donations go directly towards the production of our projects. To enquire about supporting The Island email at info [at] theislandarts [dot] org.
The Island is directed by Andrew Bonacina and Victoria Brooks.
