The Island's Artist Associates programme supports, collaborates and presents the production of long-term research projects across media, from on-line archives, radio and exhibitions formats.
Dutch sociologist and artist Charlie Koolhaas (B. 1977, London. Currently lives and works in Texas and Rotterdam) has contributed extensively to magazines, books and exhibitions with her writing, visual art and photography. Her current work focuses on Cities – to give a true representation of cities as global centers of cross-cultural inhabitation and exchange, places for collaboration across fields and specialisms, beliefs and cultures.
The Island Associate Alison Crawshaw has been researching unlawful building practices in Rome as part of her recent residency at the British School at Rome. We will be following the various projects emerging from this research over the coming months.
